It seems quite inconceivable that we traipsed through such old sights today. Troy was disappointing because of the damage done by archeologists in their search for treausure. Relics litter the landscape as you try to imagine what must have been.

The horse, of course, was of interest!

Pergamum though was more complete. The Acropolis (high city) was quite impressive atop the mountain with other ruins in a more complete situation.

I think we completely overlook Turkeys place in the ancient world, concentrating more on Athens and Rome. To be looking at ruins of cities as far the other side of 0 AD as we are today is quite amazing.
