ETRETAT - ON THE MONET

We discovered that Claude Monet had been a regular visitor to Honfleur and parts thereabout. Presumably just a short trip down the Seine to the port or by more conventional means.

We had recently seen a programe on "Coast" where Alice Roberts was on the beach at Etretat trying to recreate Monets famous painting of the headlands there. On each end of the bay are two distinctive rock formations that have been hollowed out by centuries of waves breaking on their craggy formations.

tried to recreate.

Etretat was a brief, but welcome, diverson on our way to the Somme.
